One Soul at at a time

HMU has many programs to bring the gospel message and to disciple new believers in northern India. Among these programs our children’s ministry is very important. In the book of James we read that true religion includes caring for orphans. Out of the population of one billion in India, around 400 million are children under the age of 18. Children under the age of 6 are about 158 million. Millions of children (age 0-12) live in the slums / streets. The total slum population in India is over 40 million. Every day thousands of children die without proper care, nutritious food or medical care. Millions of children do not have the privilege to go to school due to several reasons. We started a Children’s ministry to reach the unreached children in North India.

Children Ministry in our Churches

Our local churches have different programs to reach children in their own neighborhoods. Every Sunday they have Sunday School and it reached both Christians and non-Christians. They also conducts Vacation Bible school and other programs to the children. The Gospel, carried in the hearts of the children, was able to penetrate homes that are other wise very difficult to reach through traditional evangelism. The children are now praying to Jesus everyday and singing Christian songs in their homes in front of their families who do not yet know our Savior. Many of the children that attended the outreach used to give their hearts to the Lord and regular follow-ups are being conducted with their families. Some of the parents have shown interest in attending the worship meetings. Pastor Shibu’s church in Delhi state ministers to about 200 to 300 children from the surrounding non Christian neighborhood and the slums. The children memorize scripture and in the scripture memory contest many can quote more than 40 scriptures. At Christmas a special children’s program of plays, singing, and food packs 500 people into this church.
