Orphanage

Some of our street children

Out of the population of one billion in India, around 400 million are children under the age of 18. Children under the age of 6 are about 158 million. About five million children (age 0-12) live in the slums. The total slum population in India is over 40 million. Every day thousands of children die without proper care, nutritious food or medical care. Millions of children do not have the privilege to go to school due to several reasons.

We started our orpahanage ministry in 1997. We take care of children who are abandoned and neglected. As they live with us, we not only meet their physical and emotional needs but also raise them up in a godly environment and teach them biblical truths.

Usha Mary was born as a child of a leprosy patient, and her father died soon after her birth. She grew up in a leprosy colony with no hope or a smile. Her mothers fervent begging was her only source of survival. She never had good clothes or an education. Today, she is happy because the Lord has met her needs - physically, mentally and spiritually. She now lives in our orphanage and has a smile on her face.

We also take children born to leprosy patients into our orphanage, since living with their parents could lead to the children, contracting leprosy themselves. We want to save more children by giving them shelter, food and an environment to grow up as a normal, healthy child. Please pray and support this wonderful ministry. You can sponsor a child with just 30 Dollars a month. This will help us to provide food, clothing, medicine, boarding etc. When you sponsor a child we will send you the information regarding the child and will keep you updated with the child's photos and letters.

Children's Ministry - Mongolpuri Project in Delhi

Children in our orphanage with the staff who take care of them

The capital city of India, Delhi, comprises of rural and urban areas in which the rural regions are thickly populated by slum dwellers, which are approximately 2.5 million people. The total population of Delhi is about 11 million people.

God gave us the burden to start a children's ministry in one of the slums in Delhi called Mongolpuri which we started in 1992 with 50 children. Today we have 250 children. Our goal is the spiritual, mental, physical and social development of the children, and also the development of the community. Our joy knows no bounds when we see many young children give their hearts to the Lord. We provide school fees and uniforms, proper nutritious food and tuiton classes to these children. These children live with their parents who are unable to take proper care of their children. You can sponsor a street child with just 15 Dollars a month.

What is the difference between Children's Ministry and Orphanage ?

We don't provide boarding and lodging for street children, but we do provide boarding and lodging for the orphans and meet all their needs. We also get a good opportunity to raise them in a Christian way, sending them for Sunday school and worship services. They stay with us and grow up like one of our own children. Street children stay with their own families, uncles or aunts.
